APC, or Alternative PHP Cache, is a PHP module which caches the output code of database-driven script applications. Dynamic PHP sites hold their content inside a database which is accessed whenever a visitor opens a webpage. The content which has to be displayed is gathered and the code is parsed and compiled before it's delivered to the visitor. All these actions take some processing time and include reading and writing on the web server for each page that is loaded. While this can't be avoided for sites with regularly changing content, there're many sites that present the very same content on a lot of of their pages all of the time - blogs, informational portals, hotel and restaurant websites, etcetera. APC is extremely useful for such websites as it caches the previously compiled code and displays it any time visitors browse the cached webpages, so the code does not have to be parsed and compiled all over again. Not only will this decrease the server load, but it will also increase the speed of any site several times.
APC (PHP Opcode Cache) in Shared Hosting
APC is pre-installed on our next generation cloud platform, so you can use it for your applications irrespective of the shared hosting solution that you select when you register. The module can be enabled from your Hepsia internet hosting Control Panel which is used to manage the shared accounts and only a couple of minutes later it'll boost your Internet sites because it'll start caching their code. In case you need to run websites with different system requirements or employ specific web accelerators for any of them, you'll be able to customize the software environment by placing a php.ini file inside the preferred domain folder. This way, you can enable or disable APC not only for a certain Internet site without affecting the remaining websites in the account, but also for a particular version of PHP since our platform is compatible with multiple versions simultaneously.
APC (PHP Opcode Cache) in Semi-dedicated Servers
You can use APC for each script application which runs on your new semi-dedicated server since the module is pre-installed on the cloud hosting platform where the account will be generated. Activating or deactivating APC for the entire account requires one click from the Hepsia Control Panel, but if needed, you can use the module just for certain websites. This is possible because of the versatility of our cloud platform - different versions of PHP run on it at the same time, so with a php.ini file placed in a site folder, you can select what release will be used for this specific site and whether APC has to be enabled or disabled. Using such a file allows you to use settings that are different from the ones for your account, so you'll be able to take full advantage of APC for some scripts where the module makes a difference and not for others where you could employ some other kind of web accelerator.
